To take this city with me wherever I go, I set myself the challenge of recreating its ambiance through scent. Distinctive amongst City Rhythm’s offerings, New Orleans is our first gourmand release, designed to encapsulate the beautiful complexity and raw authenticity of this historic locale.

New Orleans opens as warmly as a sultry Southern morning, with a sweet and nutty praline note balanced by a bright bouquet of lychee and rose. Inspired by days spent walking through the famed French Quarter, a fresh bread accord weaves its way throughout, as a double shot of Bourbon rounds out the experience in a perfect blend of sweetness, booziness, and that certain Je Ne Sais Quoi.

The city of San Diego once visited, quietly, undeniably, and indelibly gets under the skin. This remarkable city’s essence is reflected in its instinctive ability to maintain a most delicate equilibrium between modern metropolis and home to a wealth of natural wonders. Blue skies filled with the hazy paint strokes of drifting clouds, salty wafts of sea air that infiltrate the senses, and a thrilling view of the Pacific sunset drenching the vista in vibrant bursts of color. These ethereal elements wind their way around towering skyscrapers and meander down bustling streets to create a contradictory and magnetic draw irresistible to any who experience it. San Diego Pacific Sunset is City Rhythm’s exploration of these sensations through scent. Here at City Rhythm, we have succeeded in extending the longevity of such usually fleeting top notes as pear, bergamot, and sugar, to allow them to be experienced to their fullest on the skin. The counterpart to City Rhythm’s signature scent, Rhythm, Pulse reimagines many of the same notes found in Rhythm, adding an exotic floral twist. Fresh, clean, and striking, Pulse opens with crisp lemon and bergamot sprinkled with a touch of pink pepper. As the opening notes dry down, ylang ylang, heliotrope, and hedione take center stage as they are boosted in projection and longevity by the ambroxan, iso e super, and benzoin base.

The city of Manhattan holds a singularly significant place in my heart, so it is only fitting that my first creation was an homage to the place where my story includes so many chapters. Having migrated from the Caribbean at the age of 12, I was overwhelmed by the culture shock of this strange new land, encountering life at a whirlwind pace. My immigration status was easily exploited and most of my childhood was spent laboring at the jobs so many others deemed unworthy of their time. However, throughout tough times, the magic of Manhattan was all-pervasive, shining especially brightly through the spirits of the many who treated me kindly, and encouraged me in a vision of a brighter future for myself. As I began to find joy in the every day, one thing always elicited a sense of strength. Smelling good. Running deliveries brought in meager tips, but I remember saving up all I could until I was finally able to buy a bottle of Gucci Pour Homme 2. Smelling good was transformative. I felt important, worthy of my own dreams, and an understanding of the importance of scent began to develop. When I was enveloped in that illustrious scent I could easily conjure visions of my future success, even as I headed to another below-minimum-wage job at whatever restaurant was hiring that day. The art and the magic of fragrance is such that through it one can feel awash in endless possibilities; a self-empowerment that drowns troubles away and intrinsically forces your head up high. This power is what I aim to encapsulate for the use of all City Rhythm clients. Manhattan is a scent about hope, possibility, and self-belief. Scent is a powerful evoker of emotion and provoker of memory and for me the best way to capture a feeling. Manhattan was I inspired by that indescribable feeling I get when looking out at the Manhattan skyline. The juxtaposition of being surrounded by the tranquility of nature, while gazing at the perpetually kinetic lights of a sleepless city creates a sensation unlike any other. This fragrance plays with the alluring and enigmatic aura of New York City. Bringing together the contrasting nature of a city of many faces, Manhattan melds freshness intensity. Opening as brightly as a stream of headlights glinting off of mirrored skyscrapers and drying down to a dark, sensuous reflection of the city’s inner world. Manhattan, like it’s namesake, lends its energies to any season or event: fresh enough for summer evenings, it’s essence also cuts through the winter cold. The dichotomy between light and dark evolves on the skin to entice and intrigue the senses. Captivating bergamot at the top of Manhattan’s scent pyramid dances with notes of cinnamon before tones of incense usher in a subtle shift to the deeper end of the olfactory spectrum. Inspired by this amalgam of joyful memories from the past and distinctive experiences of the present, Miami captures a sultry modern elegance intertwined with the delights of a sun-kissed childhood in the tropics. Rich notes of beach ripened coconut are kissed by a squeeze of fresh lime to start before the tantalizing presence of jasmine and ylang-ylang announce themselves to the senses. The flow of this scent continues to evolve as saffron and Caribbean sugar-cane rum make their dramatic entrance to complete a sultry dry down that will linger on the skin for hours.
